MALONEY GOVERNMENT PRIMARY SCHOOL
Antoinette St. John: Teacher
My name is Antoinette St. John and I am a teacher attached to the first year department of the Maloney Government Primary School.
I had the pleasure of using the HOP ALONG READERS for one month in the second term. I found that it was easy to find each student’s reading level using the Hop Along assessment and so, they all started with a book that was at their independent reading level. What also made the program easy to use was the fact that each pack of four books included individual flashcards. The students used their flashcards for word recognition exercises as well as sentence building. These activities were followed by a workbook activity, reading or a journal entry. The program also uses music to introduce letter sounds and includes a colouring book. It is also very easy to keep track of the students’ progress and continuously assess them because the program includes books to keep proper daily records of each child.
My students and I thoroughly enjoyed working with the program and even though it was only for a short time, I can just imagine what the result would be like if I was given the opportunity to start using this program with a new first year class in September.

Floyd Dick: Remedial Reading Teacher/Librarian
I have looked at the HOP ALONG READERS and I am impressed by the systematic way in which the presenter has introduced the program. The approach is clear, simple, colourful and gradually builds up reading skills, spelling and creative writing. The HOP ALONG caters for the adult to use it confidently and easily, even at the end of an exhausting day.
Additionally, the assessment matches accurately with the original program/storybooks.

MALABAR GOVERNMENT PRIMARY SCHOOL
Keileen Edwards: Teacher I (First Year Infants)
I liked the size of the flashcards. Each child can have a set for personal use. The programme was very straight-forward, thus I could easily relate to it, as well as my parents. The assessment process made a lot of sense. I could easily keep check of EACH child’s progress.
Without a doubt I would encourage my parents to get it.
